Glurns – The jewel in the crown of South Tyrol
The BELVENU boutique hotel is located in the heart of the Alpine town of Glurns.
Tyrol and Italy’s smallest town, it is an architectural jewel.
The fully preserved town wall with its three massive towers and an entire series of defensive towers surround picturesque alleyways and squares, 16th century townhouses, and arcades with a charm entirely their own.
As a border area in an Alpine pass landscape, the valley has constantly been sought after by new lords, with the result that our homeland has been – and continues to be – shaped by a wide range of influences, giving it its unique feel. There are probably only very few areas in which visitors can view an almost uninterrupted vista from ancient history through to the present day in such a small space!
From Carolingian frescoes, Roman edifices and paintings through to the latest buildings, you will find numerous monuments to art here. Vinschgau natives, it is said, are individualists who have often succeeded in making a virtue out of a necessity. Our settlement culture is very special, with a strong Rhaeto-Roman influence.
The Vinschgau is a unique Alpine valley extending from the Reschen Pass to Reinhold Messner’s Schloss Juval.
Winter is a very special time of year here. A fascinating variety: Still, valleys deep in snow, enchanting landscapes, and villages full of life and fun. Skiing, snowboard fun, ice skating – and thousands of other fantastic possibilities for sports and leisure: Cross-country skiing, ice skating, snow-kiting, tobogganing for the whole family, winter hiking…
